Nestled in the Texas Hill Country, Becker Vineyards is a must see during your next trip to Texas.
This working vineyard is home to over 46 acres of grapevines, producing more than 21 different varieties of wine. With 3 acres of lavender fields on the property, Becker Vineyards is reminiscent of the wine country in France.
Established in 1992, Becker Vineyards harvested its first crop in 1995. They purchased the old Bluebonnet Hills Vineyard in Ballinger, TX. This added 29 acres to their vineyard, adding an additional 8 varieties of grapes being grown. Most of the vintages produced are aged in new French oak, some in new American oak. They are stored in the largest underground wine cellar in Texas. They have the capacity to store 64,000 gallons of wine and ferment 35,000 gallons at a time. The winery is located in a recreated 19th-century German stone barn. It is surrounded by quarter horses, lavender fields with other wildflowers, and a peach orchard.
Next to the winery is a log cabin, build around 1890. It was recently renovated and is now open as the Homestead Bed and Breakfast. A night's stay in the cabin will cost $125, and includes a bottle of wine and homemade pastries for breakfast. A Tasting Room was added in 1996. This room has a working stone fireplace and antique pine bar. The Tasting Room is decorated with art by local artisans. The Lavender Haus is a replica of a barn at the LBJ Settlement in Johnson City, TX. It is used for wedding receptions, wine dinners, festivals, birthday celebrations, and more.
