The
Texas Transportation Museum is located near San Antonio. It was set up in 1964 to preserve information and artifacts connected with the history of transportation in San Antonio. As a part of its efforts, it collects transportation equipment, preserves and displays them for the benefit of the people. Many of the artifacts, including railroad engines are in running condition and can be operated. The company operates models of train layouts of several kinds, different kinds of road vehicles and also a heritage road.
The museum is a charitable organization and organizes educational programs and entertains children on technology that helped the development of transportation. There are more than 15,000 visitors to the Museum every year.
One major event held at the Museum is Santa's Railroad Wonderland. Children are the main attraction for this event. There are many gifts for children and music to dance. The donations and profits from this event are donated to the 'US Marine's Toys for Tots program'. The event is a fun way to start the beginning of the holidays.
During the celebrations, the museum is decorated with lights; there are hay rides for the children, music and rides on trains. If you need to buy gifts, these are available at the Museum. If you are a railroad fan, then you will not forget to make a visit to this event and see the excitement for yourself.
The event is held every December and is a 'must-see' for every child filled with the magic of Santa.
