Six Flags Fiesta is an award winning park that provides live holiday entertainment and extraordinary yuletide excitement for the entire family. It is opened to public during festive seasons when people take holidays and are in celebratory mood. Spread over an area of approximately 200 acres of land with an old quarry, it is located near the northwest intersection of Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 in San Antonio Texas.
Construction of the park started in 1990 and the park was opened in March 1992. SixFiesta is basically a theme park. The idea of setting up the park, when it was originally conceived, visualized it as a kind of "destination market, musical show park" on the lines of the Opryland USA. The primary focus of the type of entertainment that the park would offer was the southwest music and culture rather than rides. It was considered that this element would distinguish the park from their competitors in the region.
The management and operations of Fiesta Flags were taken over by Time Warner in 1996. Some changes were made that led to the expansion of the water park, named White Water Bay and board walk. The park closes on most nights with an animated laser show projected on the limestone quarry walls and fireworks. The latest addition to park comes in form of a new roller coaster, Goliath which would be its 8th coaster.
The park displays the "Biggest Christmas Tree in Texas". The magnificent 100 feet centerpiece stands in the Rockville area. It is festively decorated with tens of thousands of multi-colored lights and crowned with a lovely accent at the top.
