The
San Antonio River Walk is the venue for many activities throughout the year. One such event is Dyeing o' the River Green. During St. Patrick's Day weekend, the San Antonio River is dyed green, with environmentally safe dye, which jumpstarts the festivities. A parade of boats will float down the green river while onlookers watch the St. Patrick's Day Parade from the river-walk.
The
San Antonio River Walk is home to many events throughout the year. In February there is the Mardi Gras Arts and Crafts Show. The artisans show their crafts. A parade of barges, decorated for Mardi Gras make their procession down the river in a festival sponsored by Bud Light.
From August 29 to September 1 2008 the Labor Day Arts and Crafts will host a show along the
San Antonio River Walk on the Extension near the Chamber of Commerce. There you will find arts and crafts, pottery and jewelry. Many activities take place in the section of the San Antonio River; there will be a Ford Canoe Challenge, where 90 teams will race starting from the Chamber of Commerce, making their way through the Convention Center Lagoon, and then finally ending up back where they started after going through the River Center Mall Lagoon. Many of the city officials will be there; the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be there also to compete. If you are interested in being a vendor or just visiting one of the events you can find contact Events Director at the Chamber of Commerce; the number is 210-227-4262.
