Enchanted Springs Ranch, a working 1800s living history ranch in Boerne, Texas, hosts Cowboy Christmas, which allow patrons to see an "Old West" Christmas celebration. The event features Cowboy Santa, a tractor wagon ride, gun fights, Woodrow, the Saddled Longhorn Steer, horse rides for children, and Christmas music, all in a Old West town decorated for the holiday season.
The
Enchanted Springs Ranch gets its name from the stunningly beautiful rolling hills and spring-fed rivers and creeks that the Native Americans thought must have been enchanted. This land of plenty was so sought after by native tribes, which the Comanche, the Tonkawa, and the Lipan Apache would constantly fight over this region. The Texas Rangers joined the battle to control this furtive land.
The original Enchanted Springs area was more than 10,000 acres of land in Central Texas. Although most of that is now parceled into cities, towns, and ranches, an 86 acre portion of that original land is now the
Enchanted Springs Ranch. Aside from Cowboy Christmas, it hosts numerous other special events, daily activities (such as horseback riding), and has served as a backdrop for several Hollywood and independent films. The ranch has numerous springs that feed two creeks brimming with catfish and bass, along with its authentic old west town, wild animal park, and working horse and cattle ranch.
Tour guides and entertainers don period garb to help create the 1800s atmosphere.
