Have you ever wanted to step back in time and visit the Wild West? At the Annual Dominion Rotary Wild West Day, you have that chance. Set at the
Enchanted Springs Ranch located outside San Antonio, TX, this event takes you back to a western town form the 1800s. This 86+ acre working ranch boasts rugged natural beauty and amazing exotic animals. It is held at the beginning of October. It benefits the Rotary and to local Boy Scouts that help with parking.
Much of the festival is geared towards kids. Begin the day being entertained by a Wild West Show featuring the world famous gun twirler, Pistol Packin Paula. With stands for face painting and 10 cent video games, children won't run out of fun things to do. There are clowns passing out balloons, making the atmosphere very festive. All around the town, re-enactors having gunfights keep the place hopping. The Knights of The Guild merge entertainment and education with their dramatic demonstrations of chivalry and nobility, including the world's largest horse, "Thor".
Families are able to get a close up glace of animals out of the Texas wilderness. Texas longhorns, American Buffalo and exotic deer demonstrate some of the animal life you would have seen in the 1800s. Other exotic animals, such as zebras, emus, llamas and antelopes, are also on display. Hands-on fun includes pony rides and tractor/wagon rides. There is also an authentic Wells Fargo Stagecoach available for rides. For a great photo opportunity, a longhorn is saddled and available for family pictures. The town buildings are open all day with outdoor venders selling barbeque plates, hot dogs, funnel cakes and all the festival foods you love.
