Annual Christmas Along the Corridor in San Antonio Texas
If you are in San Antonio for Christmas one event that would surely catch your attention is the Christmas Along the Corridor. This is a fun way to bring in the New Year. What happens during this time of the year is a celebration that runs over 150 miles. People enjoy the history, culture, and heritage as the pony express riders act as heralds of the Christmas messages to the counties in San Antonio. The Texas Governor's holiday wishes are delivered. You have vendors along the way who hoard their wares. Traditional Mexican food is also available. As with most other galas in San Antonio, the entry to this event is also free. Walters Street Gate or the Harry Wurzbach East Gate forms the two entries to this feast. Sometimes there is also a display of vintage cars, local history and merchandise of the San Antonio artisans. You have live music played by many bands and this is generally the typical cavalry traveling music. The other performances include bare-back, side-saddle, and a rodeo drill among others. The military also join the celebrations and there is an equestrian display. Pony rides for children are available as well. There is a garage sale as well in addition to the arts and crafts sale which is typically Mexican in style. Every year there is something unique added to this fun way of partying and observing Christmas without moving away from the tradition. The people join in the merry-making and this is more than just an event for the local government. The city is in all its glory at this time of the year.
